WindowBlinds

Vista Transformation Pack works well as a simple shell style replacement, but we recommend, but do not require the use of Stardock’s WindowBlinds. This shareware rounds out the Vista Transformation Pack with features not available via shell style replacement such as the Aero translucent window borders. This software costs $19.95 USD and must be downloaded and installed before installing Vista Transformation Pack in order for the bundled WindowBlinds theme to be loaded properly.

Wallpapers
A subtle touch that is often forgotten, but can add to the authenticity of your transformation. Wallpapers are included in the pack, but other Vista inspired wallpapers are available only. Just download and set as your desktop background.

Real Vista applications

Microsoft has released many of its Windows Vista software for Windows XP. These include the Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and the Windows Live series of applications. You can download these via Microsoft’s content page and install them for an authentic addition to your transformation.

QT Addressbar

If you are looking for the breadcrumb addresses in your explorer windows, you can emulate it with QT Addressbar. You will need .NET framework 2.0 or later before installing. It is a few simple steps before it adds breadcrumbs just like in Windows Vista. You can find a guide to Integrate Styler with QT Addressbar here.

FindeXer

This program will add a favorites bar to your explorer windows. Download the application first and install as necessary. However, it must be customized to appear like Windows Vista. Because of its confusing nature, we would suggest you visit the following guide to Customize Vista's Favorite Links to make FindeXer looks like Vista's favorite links.

Dreamscene

This is the name of the live, animated desktop backgrounds found in Windows Vista. This can be achieved in two ways. The first is with Desktop Dreamscapes. Install this program and add video to your desktop background. However, be sure to have a high-end computer because this is a resource heavy application.

The second method is using VLC Media Player. This media player has the ability of displaying its videos on your desktop. Download and install VLC Player, then change the “video output module” to “DirectX video output.” Once you have chosen a video, go to “Video > Wallpaper.” To repeat the video, go to “View > Playlist” and choose the “Repeat one” icon.
