In a note published on the official blog of Microsoft Outlook, Dev Balasubramanian, product manager, explains that the utility disables the Google search engine for Outlook and it is no longer possible to make the same requests partial in the software. "The plugin modifies a key to the registry to stop the search functions of Windows Desktop Search and the indexing of all data in Outlook, not just those synchronized from Gmail," says Balasubramanian. The team also says that to reactivate these features is not enough simply to uninstall the Google plugin, it will indeed change the key directly at issue in the registry. On his blog dedicated to business applications, Google explains that the software directly from the data file in Outlook - Windows Desktop Search - are not compatible with Google Apps Sync. Contrary to what Microsoft engineers at the Mountain View company specify that the search engine integrated with Outlook is working correctly. Note also that the latest version of the plugin no longer needs to modify directly the key in the registry to completely reactivate Windows Desktop Search. It will therefore put the plugin up to date before the uninstall.
