Removing a botnet pirated versions of Windows 7

Remember, recently, the first botnet composed of Mac found. The establishment of these machinery zombies was made possible by the distribution on P2P networks of infected version of the iWork'09 suite. Unfortunately it happened the same with pirated versions of Windows 7.

The botnet has reached a peak of 27 000 infected machines, all connected to a server type C & C (Command and Control). This server was closed while the rate of spread was at this time of the 552 new machines per hour. Tripp Cox, vice president of engineering at Damballa, says it is once again evidence of collusion "between software pirates and organizations cybercriminals

This method of infection is likely to be increasingly on P2P networks. The malware is written directly into the product, prior to the possible installation of the virus often undetectable.
